Several ports in Florida host cruise lines. The main ports are Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Port Canaveral and Tampa. Cruising from Florida also offers the opportunity to spend some time in the port city of your departing ship. Each port city has many things you can entertain yourselves with before or after your cruise. Each city has so much to offer visitors; it would be wasteful to ignore what is on offer. You can vacation on land and sea, if you choose. If you wish to enjoy some time in these cities and their nearby accessible surroundings, a little research will reveal a wealth of offerings awaiting your pleasure.

Things to do in Miami

Visitors will find many water related activities they can try for a start. For land based activities diversity of options is the best way to describe Miami treats. Consider renting a scooter, trying some road mountain biking, skateboarding or kite flying. There is skydiving and parasailing or a helicopter ride to experience. A narrated sightseeing tour is a nice way to learn about the city. But, it is a safe guess that South Beach will be a site that will not be left out of the itinerary. However, there is much more that awaits in Miami.

You may find it entertaining to learn why this city is considered similar to Venice in some ways. The many canals will remind you. This is also a place to see yachts galore. The International Swimming Hall of Fame is a site not to be left out. The charms of the city will entrance you as you discover there are many aspects you had not expected to find here.

Things to do in Port Canaveral

Casino ships, nearby Orlando theme parks and the Kennedy Space Center are distinctive area attractions. For the adventurous airboat trips and deep sea fishing excursions are available amongst other offerings.

What you can do in Tampa

You will want a stop at Busch Gardens, Big Cat Rescue and perhaps Dinosaur World. Aside from the different theme parks for the entertainment of big kids and kids in general, there are museums, aquariums, zoos and gardens like the Sunken Gardens and Cypress Gardens. The Bok Tower has trails to explore and Weeki Wachee Springs is where the famous mermaid show takes place. The Seminole Indian Casino is for those interested in a spot of gambling. In January, there is an annual Gasparilla Pirate Festival. Tampa has much to offer those willing to explore.
