Kenya Safari Holidays - A Walk On The Wild Side

by Denver Burke

If you are getting bored with annual holidays at the coast, why not consider something different? Kenya safari holidays offer new and exciting experience. Untamed Africa with its plethora of wildlife, open plains and jungles offer new and exciting experiences.

This beautiful country has much to commend it as a holiday destination. It has a geography that includes mountains, savannas and jungles. It is located on the equator and has a long coastline along the Indian Ocean. It also shares Africa's largest lake, Lake Victoria, with Uganda and Tanzania. It is named after Mount Kenya, the highest mountain in the country and the second highest mountain in Africa.

This country plays host to one of the world's greatest spectacles - the annual Wildebeest migration every June. The migration passes through the Masai Mara game reserve, with over one million Wildebeest stretching from horizon to horizon. Lions follow the migrating herd for easy hunting as they bring down the stragglers and the weak.

The migration passes through the Mara River, which is good news for the crocodiles. As the enormous herd crosses the strongly flowing river, some are swept away and drowned and many are taken by the crocodiles.

Viewing the Kenyan bush from a hot air balloon is an experience of a lifetime. Imagine the exhilaration of gliding silently through the air with a birds eye-view of the land and the wildlife. The balloon pilot will bring you down to treetop level for a close up and will also soar to greater heights to give you an overall view of this magnificent land.

One can choose from a variety of Kenya safari holidays. For those who enjoy their comforts, there are luxurious lodges and bush camps. For those hardier souls there are walking and camel safaris. These allow one to experience the bush and wildlife at first hand and are led by experienced and responsible guides. They are trained to ensure your safety and to make sure that your experience is one that you will never forget.
